Eligibility for Application
Please refer to the application guide for each year. For 2025, the internship period is from July 1st to September 30th.
The public and private colleges and universities in the Republic of China (Taiwan) approved by The Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as "colleges and universities") are eligible to recommend and confirm applications from students who are in their junior year or higher, as well as those in master’s and doctoral programs for this plan.
I. Domestic Students
An applicant must meet at least two of the following criteria:
- must hold Taiwan (R.O.C.) citizenship;
- is student in the third year of study or higher (including Masters and PhD) in fall semester 2025 (excluding in-service students); no specific major requirement;
- graduate of 2025, and must obtain graduation certificate by August 31, 2025 (male students must have completed military service or meet exemption criteria), excluding in-service students.
II. Overseas Chinese and International Students
An applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- is an international or overseas Chinese student who holds valid Alien Resident Card (ARC); *Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao students are not eligible for this program.
- must maintain full-time student status from the time of application to participation in the program;
- is student in the third year of study or higher (including Masters and PhD) in fall semester 2025 (excluding in-service students); no specific major requirement;
- graduate of 2025 for Master’s or PhD degrees, no specific major requirement; One should finish the required hours of the internship and retain the student status by August 31th, 2025.
- must hold a valid work permit from July 1st to September 30th, 2025. The application process for work permits should be in accordance with the regulations of each university. Please contact the international student affairs office of each university for details.

Yes, one can apply as long as they hold Taiwanese (R.O.C.) citizenship and a certificate of enrollment. - Overseas Chinese and International Students

About the recommendation of the college and university coordination window
A designated single contact from each university should apply to the program execution team for an account. Each university is limited to one set of account credentials (username and password). The recommendation of students must be completed by May 2, 2025.
No, there are no restrictions. However, it is recommended that the contact person be appointed by a university-level administrative unit, and that internal selection and recommendation processes be conducted first.
There are no restrictions on the majors, and the number of students that universities can recommend is unlimited.
It is recommended to prioritize students who have obtained domestic or international MOOCs certificates, professional licenses, competition awards, or possess internship experience related to the 5G field.

The student recommendation list for each university must be completed by May 2, 2025.

It is recommended that universities complete the student recommendation list as early as possible. The registration system will require students to fill in all mandatory fields, and the current file upload size limit is set at 10MB.

It is recommended that a primary unit of the university or college serves as the single point of contact.

It is recommended that universities and colleges grant internship credits equivalent to those for this program’s accepted students.

Conduct on-campus selection and recommend applications from fresh graduates and current juniors (inclusive) and above from their own nationality; applications from overseas students (excluding mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao students) juniors (inclusive) and above. Fresh graduates must have completed their hours before August 31, 2025 and maintained their student status.

Participate in activities organized under this program, such as talent matching and research project presentations, to showcase students' project outcomes and use these as opportunities for school marketing and increased visibility.

Assist overseas Chinese and international students accepted into this program in applying for work permits.
Selection of the Industry Rising Talents
Students participating in this program are free to join activities related to the 5G R&D Talent Matching initiative. They are also encouraged to regularly check the program's website and LinkedIn page for updates on the time and location of matching events and to engage in networking opportunities with enterprises.
The student selection process is divided into two stages.
- First Stage: The enterprises will go through the resume matching after the schools provide the lists of recommendations, and the students can also actively apply for the positions on their own.
- Second Stage: Those who are invited can join the second stage of the selection process, which they will engage in one-on-one matching and networking with the enterprises.
After the second-stage interviews, enterprises will notify students of their selection status and complete the registration process by mid-June, 2025. The list of admitted students will be published on the program's website by the end of June 2025.
Students who are selected by multiple enterprises have to decide which one to go and register by mid-June, 2025.
The program office will notify schools and students' coordinators via email. The latest admission status can also be checked on the program's official website (https://eii.nat.gov.tw/5g-jump/) and the system platform. The list of admitted students will be announced by the end of June 2025.
Stipend of the Industry Rising Talents
- The program provides a total stipend of NT$36,000 for undergraduate students and NT$60,000 for master's and doctoral students. Other related salary and benefits are to be negotiated between the enterprises and the selected students.
- Labor and health insurance are generally divided into self-paid and enterprise-paid portions. The enterprise covers the enterprise-paid portion, while the student is responsible for the self-paid portion. Therefore, the actual "practical stipend" received by the student is the amount after deducting the self-paid labor and health insurance costs.
Enterprises will grant the stipend to students' accounts on a monthly basis.
Participation in this program’s R&D internship does not affect the student's ability to intern or work at other organizations. However, this is subject to the terms agreed upon between the student and the enterprise as stipulated in their contract.

Research and Development Internship & Hours
Each student must complete a minimum of 189 hours of internship. Throughout the entire three-month duration, students are expected to participate in research and development activities every month. (The graduates of 2025 for Master’s and PhD degree students aren’t required to participate every month, but the total minimum of 189 hours of internship still has to be completed.) Additionally, students must record their project involvements in the program system, such as the report of the R&D internship content, learning activities, or counseling records. etc.

The actual working hours are to be mutually agreed upon by the enterprises and the students.
The R&D Internship from this program is held during the summer break. That is to say, students can discuss the weekly schedule with their own enterprise, and students will be able to use the rest of the time on their own.
No, you can't. You have to conduct the internship at the enterprise.
Students may terminate the program with a company due to uncontrollable circumstances, provided they submit relevant documentation (such as a medical diagnosis). In such cases, they will not be required to repay any stipend already received, unless otherwise specified.
Program will be terminated under these circumstances.
- The students provide false information during application and resume submission; in such cases, they must return any stipends received to the company and will not be eligible to reapply for the program.
- The students are having difficult time adapting to the program; they can withdraw from the program if approved by the enterprises and Program Office.
Termination and Withdrawal application must be submitted to the Program Office by the enterprise. The stipend will be calculated up to the termination date and disbursed proportionally based on the hours completed.
Other Questions
The company should sign a contract with the student, clearly outlining the rights and obligations of both parties. It is recommended that students discuss the details with the company during the matching period to avoid any potential disputes during the research and development internship period.
It can be negotiated directly between the company and the student, without the need for the program execution team to handle it.
